Our Commitment to Reliable Communication

“Modern Technology, With Old-Fashioned Service” is our company motto, and our mission statement highlights our purpose: “To provide our customers with the highest quality, cutting-edge products and the best ongoing service support to help their business operations succeed by utilizing radio communications.”

Communications Legacy Since 1991

C & M Communications represents one of the true American “Mom & Pop” companies. We started operations in the owners' living room, branched into the laundry room, made the carport into an office, and finally added a garage! Then we moved to bigger facilities and added a location. We were founded in 1991 by Chris & Mary Salgot.

Company Origins and Early Growth

Established in 1991 by Chris & Mary Salgot, C&M Communications started in their Phoenix home. Chris brought 13 years of expertise in radio communications. The company began by offering subcontract installation and technical services to local firms. In 1992, C&M became a Standard Communications Land Mobile Radio Division dealer, growing its own client base. Chris managed sales and repairs, while Mary handled accounting and customer service along with her other job.

From Phoenix Garage to Statewide Operations Excellence

In 1994, we took steps to better serve our customers by entering the repeater side of two-way radio communications. This move quickly became an important advantage, as it allowed customers to fulfill all their radio communications requirements in one location. In 1996, we moved our residence and office to Glendale, and Mary began working nearly full-time in the business to handle accounting and office duties.

Growing Our Network to Serve You Better

Our company continued to add repeater channels and transmitter sites across the Phoenix metro area, further enhancing our coverage footprint. Most of the subcontract work for other communications shops now had to be declined, as our core business customer base had grown substantially.

Expanding Our Presence With a Second Location

In January 2000, C&M expanded by opening a second office in Payson, Arizona, in the Rim Country. That same year, C&M became a dealer for Kenwood Communications Products, a strategic move given Kenwood’s global reputation for quality. Today, C&M operates the office in Payson and has a limited use satelite location in Glendale, with Chris and Mary directly involved in daily operations to best support C&M’s customers.

R & M Repeater

In the mid-1970s, Robert Miller started R&M Repeater in Payson, Arizona. The company operated as a subsidiary of Arizona Radio Communications, which was also owned by Miller and based in Phoenix. R&M was established to provide a local repeater system for customers in Arizona's Mogollon Rim Country. Chris was employed by Arizona Radio during the 1980s until the business was sold to a large nationwide carrier in 1990, with all assets except the R&M Repeater included in the sale.

Partnership and Continued Growth

In 1992, Robert and Chris entered into a partnership in Arizona, keeping the R&M name intact. Chris handled the operational and managerial duties, and Robert, now retired, contributed as a consultant. The company has grown by dedicating its efforts to northern rural communities in Arizona. Robert passed away in January of 2020 Chris then restructured R&M into primarily a site and tower rental business with snowcat operations as a secondary operation. R&M presently has several mountain transmitter sites located in three northern Arizona counties.
